Be dazzled by Sentosa Lights of Spring, an illuminating wonderland celebrating the Lunar New Year spring festivities under the night sky.

From 13 to 21 February, Sentosa will launch a spectacular collection of light displays to create magical evenings for families and friends to enjoy. Light sculptures bearing the 12 Chinese Zodiac characters will form picture-perfect photo points for guests to capture special moments together this Lunar New Year.

Sentosa Lights of Spring will span Imbiah Lookout and Merlion Walk. Roving entertainers will take to the festive grounds to add colour and buzz to the celebration. What’s more, there are exciting prizes to be won when guests submit their favourite photos to the Magic Moments photography competition!

So head on down to Sentosa, Asia’s favourite playground and experience spring’s kaleidoscope of colours, textures and lights this Lunar New Year. The action begins on 13 February, so get the family together after reunion dinner or make a date with the love of your life for an early Valentine’s dazzle.

Singapore Airshow 2010 will take place from 2 to 7 February 2010. The first four days of the airshow are dedicated to trade visitors. The last two days over the weekend, 6 and 7 February, have been set aside for the public where families can expect fun-filled days with activities taking place on ground and flying performances in the skies over Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC).

Invitations were issued last year to countries from various regions including Australia, Malaysia, South Africa and the United States, to send aircraft to participate at the airshow. Making its last performance in Asia will be the F-111 strike aircraft which is operated by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). The F-111 will be lighting up the skies above CEC, home of Singapore Airshow 2010, by performing the trail-blazing “Dump and Burn”. In addition, the A-10 Thunderbolt II will be making its first Asian show debut. The A-10 is operated by the United States Air Force and will be part of both the aerial performance and static display.

Mr. Jimmy Lau, Managing Director, Singapore Airshow & Events (SAe) said, “As organizers of the airshow, we set out to put together a world class event in order to raise

the interest level of the general public and help them gain better appreciation of aviation. We are privileged that the RAAF’s F-111 is commemorating its last flight at Singapore Airshow 2010.”

Making an appearance here in Singapore for the first time is the PC-21 which was acquired by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) to replace the former Basic Wing Trainer, the S-211. In the jet trainer category, joining the line up are the transonic Alenia Aermacchi M-346 and the much talked about Korean supersonic T-50 Golden Eagle Advance Trainer – both of them are in the running for the RSAF’s Advanced Jet Trainer Programme.

In addition, the RSAF AH-64 Apache and F-16 Falcon will come together for an Integrated Air Display segment. Mr. Jimmy Lau added, “We know that crowds young and old alike love the aerial displays. That is why we have squeezed in extra half-hour slots over the weekends for the public, making a total of 90-minute displays each day. The air displays coupled with the combination of ground activities and static displays will definitely make the airshow a fun-filled weekend for families.”

Young and old alike, they are always thrilled by the fascinating and precised manoeuvres of the aircraft on aerial display. At this year’s Singapore Airshow, the public will not only enjoy a variety of aircraft flying above the Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) but they will also be greeted with a wide array of aircraft on static display that is set against the panoramic backdrop of Singapore’s eastern seaboard.

Planned with the public in mind, there will be additional 30 minutes of adrenaline-pumping aerobatic display daily over the two public days. The public will not only witness the debut appearance of the A-10 Thunderbolt II but also other high profile aircraft such as the RSAF AH-64 Apache andF-16 Falcon coming together to put up an Integrated Air Display. The F-111 strike aircraft will also be gracing the event for its last appearance in Asia.

For the more active crowd, join the representatives from the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) to try out and experience some of the various sporting activities. Choose to experience a fast-paced game of handball, take part in an exciting race on a rowing machine or challenge the Youth Development Squad members to a game of table tennis!

Mr Goh Kee Nguan, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Youth Olympic Game Organising Committee said, “The Singapore Airshow is one of the major international events held in Singapore this year and we are happy that members of the public visiting the Singapore Airshow Public Day Carnival will be able to get to know more about the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games at the fun and exciting YOG section.  We hope that public visitors to the Airshow will enjoy trying out some of the sports, which will be featured in the Games in August 2010, and that they will continue to celebrate and be a part of the Singapore 2010 as we come closer to the Games.”
